We are an organization where you can complete your Community Service hours (court or state ordered or otherwise) and turn a negative situation into an opportunity for growth and betterment, both for yourself and the community. Our thrift store can always use help, and we would not be able to run our as smoothly without the help of the amazing individuals who grace us with their assistance every day.
Work your Community Service hours by committing to shifts of four hours or more. We allow Community Service to be completed at Diversity Thrift every day of the week (even when we are closed, we still do work), and on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Diversity Bingo. If you have a job or school that requires much of your free time, we will work with you to allow you to reach your deadline for completing hours. All we ask is you maintain a positive attitude, show up when you are scheduled, and work well and politely with our staff and supervisors.
You can assist us with:
► Receiving, processing and sorting of incoming donations.
► General housekeeping duties throughout the thrift store.
► Keeping the sales floor and retail spaces organized, presentable, and full of new merchandise.
► Calling at our bingo games on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
► Helping out our customers, staff, and volunteers where needed.
To begin Community Service, call our store phone number at (804) 353-8890 to set up a time to come in for an orientation. Orientations are scheduled in advance, go for one hour, and count towards your Community Service hours. An orientation is required before starting hours with us, and afterward you may begin completing hours that same day if openings are available.
If you have questions about Community Service or volunteering, call us, visit our store, or send an email to our Community Service Supervisor, Binky, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Volunteers and Community Service workers must be at least 18 years old. We will allow those 16 or 17 years old to volunteer or fulfill hours only with guardian present during their time spent with us.
