Call Diversity Thrift at (804) 353-8890 to schedule a free pickup.
All donations will be acknowledged with a receipt. It is the responsibility of the donor to place a value on the items donated. Donations to Diversity Thrift are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
PICKUPS: We pick up furniture and accompanying items.
According to health department regulations, we are not to accept upholstered furniture if it has torn fabric or stains. We usually do not send our truck just to pick up clothes or boxes of household items, but will gladly pick them up if furniture or large appliances in excellent condition are also being donated.
We do not pick up after yard sales, but will accept most yard sale items if the donor brings them to Diversity Thrift.
ITEMS WE ACCEPT INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Furniture in good condition
- Clean clothes
- Clean linen
- Books
- Record albums/CDs/cassette tapes
- Videos and DVDs
- Art
- Jewelry
- Musical instruments
- Luggage
- Spinet and other small pianos
- Other items we believe we can sell – we’re pretty flexible and we really appreciate our donors’ generosity.
ITEMS WE DO NOT ACCEPT INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Large appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers, washers or dryers (Exceptions apply – please call.)
- Waterbeds
- Furniture with stained or torn fabric
- Most upright pianos (Old uprights are difficult to sell unless there is something unusual about them.)
- Rusted or dirty items
- Old computers
- Any hazardous material, flammables or power equipment containing fuel. The rule of thumb is, if you can’t check it on a flight to Vegas, we can’t take it.
Our drivers have discretion to refuse to take any item. Please understand that if we can’t sell it – or if it’s danagerous – then we have to pay to dispose of it, sometimes at substantial cost.
